Terms of Service
Last updated: April 12, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Manuscrit ("we", "us", "our"), including our website, application process, Socratic interview platform, and ghostwriting service. By applying, creating an account, or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. The service
Manuscrit is a premium ghostwriting service. Clients complete a structured Socratic interview, and Manuscrit produces a complete book manuscript from the interview answers. The standard engagement is:
- -One full manuscript draft (DOCX and PDF)
- -Voice-calibrated prose based on writing samples and interview content you provide
- -Structured chapter architecture
- -One full revision pass based on your feedback
Turnaround for the initial draft is 24 hours from the completion of the interview, subject to section 5.
2. Applications and eligibility
Manuscrit accepts a limited number of clients per month. Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance. We reserve the right to decline any application for any reason consistent with applicable law. You must be at least 18 years old to use the service.
3. Fees and payment
The fee for the service is $3,000 USD, flat, payable upon acceptance of your application and before the interview begins. This fee includes the full scope described in section 1. All fees are exclusive of applicable taxes, which are your responsibility.
4. Refund policy
Because the service involves significant custom work and dedicated capacity, fees are non-refundable once the interview has begun. If you choose to cancel before starting the interview, we will refund the fee in full within 14 days. If Manuscrit fails to deliver the manuscript within 30 days of interview completion for reasons solely within our control, you are entitled to a full refund.
5. Client obligations
The quality and depth of your manuscript depends directly on the content you provide during the interview. You agree to:
- -Answer interview questions in good faith and with reasonable depth.
- -Provide materials you own or have the right to share, including writing samples, frameworks, and source material.
- -Not submit content that infringes third-party rights, defames any person, or contains unlawful material.
- -Respond to requests for clarification during the revision pass within a reasonable timeframe.
6. Intellectual property
Upon full payment, you own the final manuscript outright. Manuscrit assigns to you all rights, title, and interest in the delivered work, and you are free to publish, sell, modify, or license it as you see fit. Manuscrit retains no ownership interest in your manuscript.
You grant Manuscrit a limited, non-exclusive license to retain a copy of your interview content and manuscript for the purpose of delivering the service, supporting you during the revision pass, and complying with legal obligations.
You warrant that the materials and ideas you provide are your own or are provided with proper authorization, and you indemnify Manuscrit against any claims to the contrary.
7. Use of AI
Manuscrit uses AI in a limited, transparent way. During the Socratic interview, an AI system evaluates the depth and clarity of your answers and may surface optional follow-up questions. This happens ambiently and is intended to help you produce the strongest possible raw material for your book. The manuscript itself is produced from your content and may be assisted by AI tools in the drafting process under human editorial control. We are happy to discuss the specific role of AI in your engagement on request.
8. Confidentiality
We treat your interview content, manuscript, and any materials you share as confidential. We do not disclose your participation in Manuscrit or any content you provide without your written consent, except as required by law or to operate the service (see the Privacy Policy).
9. Warranties and liability
Manuscrit delivers the service with professional care. However, the service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, except as stated in these Terms. We do not guarantee commercial success of your book, acceptance by publishers, or any particular reception by readers.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid for the service giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
10. Termination
Either party may terminate the engagement for material breach of these Terms upon written notice, with a reasonable opportunity to cure. Manuscrit may suspend or terminate access for conduct that violates these Terms or creates risk to the service or other users.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in Montreal, Quebec.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date and notify active clients by email. Continued use of the service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
