Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Manuscrit ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website, apply to our service, or become a client. We take your privacy seriously and only collect what is necessary to deliver the service.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• -Application data.Name, email address, book topic, and your answer to "why now" when you submit an application.
• -Account data. Email and a hashed password when you create an account.
• -Interview content. Your answers to the structured Socratic interview, follow-up responses, and any content you paste in, including writing samples, frameworks, stories, and references.
• -Messages. The content of any messages you exchange with the Manuscrit team through the in-app messaging feature.
• -Technical data. Basic session cookies for authentication. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking cookies.

2. How we use your information

We use the information you provide for the following purposes only:

• -To evaluate your application and determine whether Manuscrit is a good fit for your project.
• -To produce your book manuscript from your interview answers. This is the core service.
• -To communicate with you about your application, your interview, and your manuscript.
• -To operate and secure the Manuscrit platform.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data to train third-party AI models. We do not share your interview content with anyone outside the Manuscrit team.

3. Use of artificial intelligence

Manuscrit uses AI in a single, limited way: inside the Socratic interview, an AI evaluator reads each answer you submit and may surface an optional follow-up question if it detects that the answer could be deeper or more specific. Your answer is sent to Anthropic's API (the company behind Claude) solely for this evaluation. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models.

The manuscript itself is produced from your interview content. We are transparent when AI is used at any step of the production process.

4. Third-party service providers

We use a small number of reputable service providers to operate Manuscrit:

• -Neon for database hosting.
• -Resend for transactional email delivery.
• -Anthropic for AI-assisted answer evaluation during the interview.
• -Vercel for web hosting and infrastructure.

Each of these providers is contractually bound to handle your data securely and only for the purpose of providing their service to Manuscrit.

5. Data retention

We retain your account data, interview answers, and manuscript for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us. We will delete your data within 30 days of receiving a valid deletion request, unless we are legally required to retain it.

6. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address in section 9. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.

7. Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Sessions use HTTP-only cookies. All traffic is served over HTTPS. Database access is restricted and logged. We do not store payment card data on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we apply industry-standard practices to protect your information.

8. Children

Manuscrit is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
